Cumbrian Adult Volunteer promoted

30.09.2016

Cumbrian Army Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) Guy Du Tracy from Harraby has been promoted for the third time in four years! Guy was thrilled to be promoted from Lieutenant to Captain after being appointed as Arnhem Company’s Training Officer, based at County Headquarters, Carlisle Castle.  Captain Du Tracy is now responsible for the organising and monitoring of training for the cadets of North Cumbria.

Guy is a former Warrant Officer of 22 years with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and began his career as a CFAV eight years ago, beginning as a Sergeant Instructor.  Guy recommends becoming an Adult Instructor to anyone who wishes to make new friends and challenge themselves: “Come along and try it – you don’t have to have served in the military.” Guy has steadily climbed the ranks in Cumbria ACF and was commissioned as an officer after a rigorous selection process.

Guy works with Securitas at Pirelli’s and has completed numerous courses through the Army Cadet Force, including a Basic Expedition Leaders Award and National Navigation Award. His toughest course was officer selection at Westbury, but Guy maintains that he became an officer “to pass on valuable life skills and to help the Officer Commanding to develop the young adults under our care.”

Cumbria ACF is always looking for reliable and responsible adults to volunteer as instructors around the County. Search Cumbria Army Cadets for more information or call 01228 516225.
