UNIVERSITY OF NORTHAMPTON REPORT

What is the social impact and return on investment resulting from expenditure on the Cadet Forces in the UK?

In July 2016, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and CVQO1, the Combined Cadet Force Association commissioned the Institute for Social Innovation and Impact (ISII) at the University of Northampton to undertake a four-year longitudinal research project. The research project was designed to help understand the social impact and return on investment resulting from the MOD’s expenditure on cadets and the Cadet Expansion Programme (CEP), as well as the benefits of the qualifications provided by CVQO. CADET HEALTH CHECK TEAM REPORT 2020

The Annual Health Check of Cadet Forces is conducted by a small team appointed by the Council of Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations. It delivered its fifth report to Chief of Defence People in February 2021. View the report here.

RESERVE FORCES EXTERNAL SCRUTINY TEAM ANNUAL REPORT 

The annual EST report comes initially from a recommendation that the MOD should introduce independent reporting on the progress of reforming the Reserves, following the work on the FR20 Commission. On 1 Oct 2014, the RFCAs had a statutory duty on placed on them to report annually to Parliament on the state of the UKs Reserve Forces. The 2022 & 2023 reports are the 8th/9th report under statutory arrangements.

MOD CADET FORCES SAFEGUARDING FRAMEWORK

The safeguarding framework is an overarching approach to safeguarding children in the MOD sponsored Cadet Forces. It consists of 8 standards that each of the MOD sponsored Cadet Forces are expected to demonstrate as part of their own safeguarding arrangements. Access the framework here.
