The Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for The North West of England and Isle of Man is responsible for promoting the Volunteer Reserve Forces of all three Armed Services within the community through liaison with local authorities, employers, trade unions, the media and other influential groups.

In addition to recruiting and publicity for the TA and the ACF, NW RFCA is also responsible for the Volunteer Estate comprising some 270 properties including the RN Headquarters, 41 TA Centres and the cadet huts belonging to the ACF and the ATC.
It is also responsible for the Altcar Training Camp at Hightown, north of Liverpool.

The Association's other tasks include employer support and the provision of welfare support to both reservists and their families.
