Meet the team

Employer Engagement Administration Officer – Liz Lloyd-Young

How long have you worked for NW RFCA?

I started in August 2018, so two and a half years.

What does your role entail?

I support the two Regional Employer Engagement Directors and no two days are the same! I maintain the CRM ‘SalesForce’ database which provides us with information on employers and Reservists, creating reports and stats  for the REEDs and wider team / units. I assist in the organisation of our Association and employer engagement events – workshops, dinners, exhibitions and military shows, supporting the REEDs to maintain and develop relationships with employers and record, monitor and review the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme for the North West and Isle of Man. I am also responsible for maintaining and reviewing the Association’s Membership.

You are currently working from home, how are you finding it?

I feel I have adapted to working from home quite well. The support from and daily communication with the team has been superb. It’s meant we have all had to work differently. Moving all our planned F2F events to online has been a learning curve but one we have all embraced.

What do you particularly enjoy about your job?

I love the variety of the role, from assisting employers with any queries to organising guest list and processing JPA. I particularly enjoy seeing the employers progress through the Employer Recognition Scheme and seeing all their hard work paying off.

What skills or attributes would you say are beneficial to have in order to do a job like yours?

(i.e., good communicator/organisational skills/self-starter)

Organisational skills are a must, particularly for planning our high-profile events like the Silver and Gold awards. Communication skills are essential – you can be dealing with for example Blue Chip Company Chief Executives, Commanding Officers of our NW Units and Councillors that are Armed Forces Champions. The most important thing is teamwork, we all pull together to get the job done.

What is the hi-light or hi-lights of your calendar year as an Employer Engagement Administrator?

The Silver Awards Ceremony. I enjoy seeing the hard work of the employers (and the team) come to fruition on the night.

Best memory to date of an event/working day during your time as an administrator.

A colleague and I taking the electric vehicle round to the storage bay to retrieve pull up banners for an event and it running out of charge on the return journey with us having to push it the rest of the way back. With a little bit of team work and a lot of laughter we made it!

When we are free to travel again where will you go on holiday?

The world is (hopefully) my oyster – currently looking at revisiting Thailand or Malaysia and my 40th birthday trip to Sumatra and Java was cancelled due to COVID-19 I’m hoping to rebook this when it is safe to do so.
