Engagement Team update November 2022

Engagement

The Engagement team, has fully engaged with employers, the Lord-Lieutenants’ and the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man both prior to and since the UK lockdown restrictions were eased.  Engagement continues to be delivered both Face 2 Face and virtually according to the customer’s needs and the teams availability.  We are now finding this blended approach to engagement works well and maximises the teams time, this fresh approach to engagement allows the team to conduct additional engagement activity as we are not travelling huge distances between meetings.

At the time of writing there are in excess of 9000 Armed Forces Covenant signatories across the UK, with the North West team looking after a total of 942 Covenant signatories which includes 359 Bronze, 105 Silver and 53 Gold Award Employer Recognition Scheme businesses, many of whom will employ personnel within the NW units.

Over the past 4 years we have experienced 201.923% growth in Armed Forces Covenant signings and businesses who are now going on to the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme pathway.  Credit is to be given to this small but dynamic team who deliver quality support to the regions employers.

Engagement Team News

This year the team has grown by 100% and has welcomed 3 new members of staff, Chris Walton (EE AO), Gary Oakford (REED) and Louisa Blakemore (REED).  Having additional staff means the team can engage more closely with the regions employers and support them far better, which in turn means those Reserves and CFAV’s business employ should be better supported.

Social Media

Over the past 3 months the engagement team has consciously driven our employer contacts to follow us on LinkedIn – a business engagement social media platform.  We have done this as each event and engagement activity we deliver is of interest to our stakeholders, who are also on LinkedIn.  Through our Head of Communications we publish NW RFCA’s activities across our social media channels, all of which have shown good growth.

This drive to further engage has seen NW RFCAs LinkedIn profile become the leading RFCA platform for employer engagement #GoTeam – below is a performance table of all RFCAs.  We ask you follow us across our social media channels to stay in touch with us and to stay up to date.

Summary

Regional engagement continues to grow year on year, we are looking forward to a long Christmas break to recharge ourselves and to take stock of what’s important.  We will continue to deliver high quality Defence support to the regions employers and first class awards events are already planning on how we can take the Defence Employer Recognition Awards Silver and Gold Awards and the Lord-Lieutenant and Lieutenant Governors’ Awards to the next level.
