The Problem
The Altcar Training Camp Team recently noticed the gym in the camp was dated and not fit for visiting units to complete mandatory physical training tests. The equipment was not up to the standard required to assist downgraded personnel to continue their rehabilitation programmes. It was important that Altcar address these issues and provide a safe, modern an welcoming gymnasium for personnel to use.
The solution
The Altcar team secured funds of over £150,000 with the support of SO3 Physical development, Headquarters North, Capt Pollock and WO1 Shackleton.
The Altcar team then assisted with painting the gymnasium and removing the old equipment, and assisted the Ministry of Defence appointed contractor with laying a new floor and the regeneration of all gym equipment.
The Outcome
Altcar Gym now has brand new facilities to assist visiting units to complete their mandatory tests and is open 24hrs a day. All Severing Personnel and Crown Servants now have state of the art equipment to help maintain and improve their levels of fitness.
