As a member of the Reserve Forces you will not be giving up your valuable time for no reward. You will be paid the same basic rate of pay as a regular soldier for every day you take part in military training, and upon successful completion of military training you will be entitled to a tax-free financial bonus of £382 per year, rising to £1,506 after 5 years. Your pay will also increase with service and promotion and you will be eligible for some travel expenses.
The benefits of joining the Reserves are not purely financial however. You may get the opportunity to serve with the regular troops, you will get to learn new skills and develop existing ones, and then of course – there is the social side of the Reserves – meeting like-minded people, and making new friendships. The same goes for the Cadets. |
