One of the main questions asked by the potential Reserve Forces recruits is how will my commitment to the Reserves effect my job. The Reserve Forces offer support to employers as well as employees through a the Ministry of Defence Employer Support Campaign known as SaBRE.SaBRE stands for Supporting Britain's Reservists and Employers, and was set up to gain and maintain the committed support of employers for their Reservist employees.
SaBRE provides employers with all the information they will need to know if they have employees serving in the Reserve Forces. This is achieved by either viewing the SaBRE website
www.sabre.mod.uk or contacting the Regional SaBRE Campaign Director (RSCD) whose email address is avaialble on the SaBRE pages of this website.
The two main aims of the SaBRE campaign are: -
- To liaise between organisations and any members of their staff who belong to the VRF, with the aim of enhancing employer / reservist relationships.
- To provide information and advice on any relevant issues, giving them a sympathetic ear and a strong voice within the MoD, This includes recommending supportive employers for the presentation of a certificate of recognition awarded by the Secretary of state.
We have included a list of the organisations who have had their support recognised by the Secretary of State for Defence and awarded a certificate of support.
SaBRE also sponsors an event called Exercise Executive Stretch. This is a weekend exercise where managers and executives spend two days with a Reserve unit partaking of the type of training which Reservists undertake. It is designed to give an insight into the activities of Reservists when they are not in the workplace, but this fun and testing weekend also develops personal skills within those taking part.
