Three of the Stockport based Air Cadet Squadrons joined forces to promote the work of the Air Training Corps at Stockport Armed Forces Day in Edgeley recently.

The cadets and staff from 162 (Stockport), 284 (Cheadle & Gatley) & 1804 (Four Heatons) Squadrons were out in force in an effort to recruit young people from all over the borough of Stockport.

Armed Forces Day in Stockport had displays from the Army Recruitment Team, Army Reservists from the Royal Artillery, Sea Cadets and Police & Fire Services. The event attracted hundreds of people from all over Stockport and hopefully a few future Air Cadets!

Flt Lt Lee Moore, Commanding Officer of 162 (Stockport) Squadron, said “It is always a pleasure to promote the Air Cadets and we have so much to offer the young people in Stockport. The cadets were an excellent advertisement for the Air Cadets and I hope more young people around the borough take up the challenge.”

Involvement in Community Events is just one of hundreds of activities offered by the Air Cadets. Girls and boys from 12 years of age have the chance to do many activities including visits to RAF Stations, Adventure Training & the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The Air Cadets is recruiting, if you are interested in joining then visit the Greater Manchester Wing website at www.gmaircadets.org to find your local Squadron. We also welcome applications for adult volunteers.
